SmartNeedle and P.D. Access
The SmartNeedle and P.D. Access products consist of a reusable hand-held monitor that connects to a one-time use needle to provide auditory ultrasound guided access to arteries and veins during catheterization procedures. A probe (essentially a microphone) is located within the lumen of the needle that detects the sound of arterial and venous blood flow and transmits it to the battery powered monitor (essentially a speaker) where it is amplified and transmitted so the physician can hear and thereby direct the needle in the direction of the blood flow to puncture the artery or vein.
